Thumbs down from environmentalist

As a member of a select State Senate environmental committee I have witnessed first-hand the Pebble Beach Company’s environmental propaganda development.

As a thirty-year resident of Pacific Grove’s Del Monte Park I have been exposed to the reality of the company’s brutal, calculating environmental practices.

After stripping a hillside from our pristine forest and running a road through it, killing a lively stream, they have methodically inhibited the forest’s natural capacity to regenerate itself. For the past few years they have regularly imported a herd of goats to devour everything they can reach, including countless seedlings and, quite possibly, legally protected orchids.
All for the sake of undermining their cynical promises to protect what they have thus far spared, which they now plan to remove in order to build another road and a strip of rentals.
Generations of children have grown up enriched by this corner of the forest. Shame on the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors, especially developer Dave Potter, if they allow the permanent destruction of such a precious natural wonder.
