Parking pushes project to 65,000 square feet

In December the PB Co. filed revised plans expanding the proposed low-income apartment project in the Del Monte Forest to include 67 parking spaces up from 53 in the earlier draft. The initial draft drew fire from the Housing Advisory Committee and neighbors because of inadequate parking.

Adding 14 new parking spaces will increase combined building and impervious coverage lot coverage by 3,604 square feet, pushing the total to 65,080 square feet.

  1. What would have happened had the effort to Save San Francisco Bay not been successful? http://www.savesfbay.org/stopping-bay-fill

What would have happened had the effort to Save the California Redwoods not been successful? http://www.savetheredwoods.org/redwoods/coast-redwoods/

But for the efforts of individuals and small groups we would not have a San Francisco Bay nor the remaining Redwood forests and let’s pray we are successful in stopping the deforestation of Pebble Beach Del Monte Forest.

Would we look back upon history and say, “What fools those big businessman were for destroying our natural landscape and resources?” Yes. I look back upon our own history and say what fools to have installed that parking lot on 17 Mile Drive. We will look back if this forest is further destroyed and say what fools we were to have not worked harder to stop the Pebble Beach Company from destroying our open space and cherished forest. Shame on the stewards of the Pebble Beach Company.

Put the housing where the forest has already been cut down.
