We are residents of the Del Monte Park neighborhood of Pacific Grove and nearby neighborhoods in the Del Monte Forest. We were blindsided by what we view as a “stealth” project of County mandated, low-income housing proposed for our neighborhood. For a variety of reasons, we do not believe the proposed forested site located on the same Assessor’s parcel as the Huckleberry Hill Natural Area is appropriate for a complex of 24 high-density rental apartments.
Accurate information, reporting, and transparency about this project have been woefully inadequate. As the people most affected we feel we have been ignored, misled, and left out of a lengthy “stakeholder” process, the outcome of which was the selection of this unique wooded tract of land in our neighborhood as the proposed project site.
Therefore, we created this website to disseminate accurate information and penetrating analysis. We wish to give ourselves a voice and a seat at the table. We wish to have our concerns addressed candidly and respectfully not with obfuscation, misdirection, and contempt. We intend to find out exactly what happened behind the scenes, who the responsible parties are, and to correct the situation by all legal means within our capabilities.
Unless otherwise specified, all content is written by private-citizen volunteers who are residents of the above mentioned affected neighborhoods. We wish to present a civil discussion of the issues from our perspective. The opinions expressed are those of the writers and may vary.
